Training and Development Director

 Description 
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) is the worldwide leader for research to cure type 1 diabetes. It sets the global agenda for diabetes research, and is the largest charitable funder and advocate of diabetes science worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, and can be fatal or lead to devastating complications. Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF has awarded more than $1.4 billion to diabetes research, including $101 million in FY2009. In FY2009, JDRF funded research projects in 22 countries throughout the world, including more than 40 human clinical trials. Currently, we are accepting applications for a unique opportunity in our Human Resources department. The Training and Development Director will: * Develop and implement training and development programs to address leadership, succession planning, career development, supervisory, performance management, and other foundation development needs. * Assist HR team in developing Performance Management tools and performance improvement resources * Provide training and guidance to staff in all aspects of performance management, including coaching, counseling, and managing performance reviews and development plans. * Create a training platform for all positions in the Field encompassing job related skills, training interventions that address skill gaps and management skills if applicable. * Act as coach and consultant to address field performance improvement needs and career development * Support staff in identifying individual developmental opportunities and suggest appropriate outside resources. * Develop career plans for high potential staff members and provide personalized career coaching as needed. * Provide organizational development services as needed to enhance organizational climate and effectiveness * Assist in the design, development, preparation, and/or delivery of training at company Conferences and other meetings. * Manage a “Learning Resources". site on the Intranet (self-guided learning tools and resources). * Work closely with all departments to develop, research, design, and/or purchase effective training programs as it relates to their function. * Develop and/or deliver new and existing training in collaboration with content specialists via web (WebEx or other e-learning platform) or in a classroom setting. Create training and reference materials as needed. * Ensure the effectiveness of programs developed and/or administered. Review and evaluate existing training programs. * Create and manage new hire orientation for National Staff. Assist in developing and implementing a new hire orientation for field staff.
Qualifications:
Requirements include but not limited to: • Bachelor’s degree required. Additional relevant education is a plus. • 7+ years of training and management experience required in a quality, recognized high performance organization • Must have field training experience in a multi-unit operation or an organization with many locations or satellite offices. (corporate experience only is not sufficient). • Minimum 5 years of experience in delivering training to various levels of staff. • Mid-Management level coaching experience. • Experience in delivering online/distance learning programs. • Experience in designing and delivering team building, change management interventions, competency studies, career development, conflict management, ethics, and diversity. • Professional certifications: Meyers-Briggs (MBTI), DISC, Wilson Social Styles, CLP, DDI, ASQ, etc. Certifications in the area of supervisory, team building, interviewing skills, skills inventory, performance management and coaching are highly desired. • Collaborative team member with ability to interact with all levels of staff and volunteers. • Excellent written, oral, communication skills. platform skills • Self-starter, requires little supervision. • For profit or not-for-profit experience considered
