To help you best utilize your HR/NY membership, and connect with our community of nearly 2,000 New York City based HR professionals, Heather Evans, our own Executive Director, has prepared this list of frequently asked questions for you.

HR/NY Frequently Asked Questions

What is your mailing address?
HR/NY's headquarters are located at Whitehorse Executive Center, 1255 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Building B - Suite 514, Trenton, NJ 08619.

What are your phone and fax numbers?
Our phone number is 877-625-HRNY (4769). Our fax number is 609-581-8244.

How much are membership dues?
HR/NY operates on a calendar basis (January - December). Membership dues are $95, offering you a full year of access to our programming, events, and services.

Between July 1st through August 31st, membership dues are $50 and grant you access to benefits through December of that year.

On September 1st, our annual membership dues of $95 provide you with membership for the remainder of the current and entire following year.

HR/NY is a 100% chapter of SHRM, which means all of our members must be members in good standing of national SHRM.

We are able to accept a first time SHRM membership with your application for an additional fee of $165. SHRM membership is anniversary based - linked to the date you join national SHRM. You receive 12 months of national SHRM benefits when you join.

How much is student membership?
$25 per year. HR/NY student members must also be members of SHRM, the national organization. We are able to accept first time student SHRM members through our application for an additional fee of $35. Copies of your current class schedule and graduation date are required with your application to verify student status.

When will you approve my membership application?
The approval process occurs on the 15th & the 30th of each month. Upon approval, you will receive an e-mail confirming your membership, as well as a new member kit in the mail. If you also joined SHRM through HR/NY, you will receive a separate notification from SHRM with their ID and membership kit.

The system is not recognizing me when I try to login/register/renew.
The HR/NY website verifies membership status by the SHRM ID and email address that we have on file for you. Please be sure to check your login for typos!

If I join today can I get the member rate for tomorrow's meeting?
Yes. However, you will not be able to register online for the event as the system will not recognize you as a member until we activate your membership.

To register for an event you must use the printable form and fax it to HR/NY headquarters, and indicate that you completed an application online. If you prefer, you may download the printable membership application and fax both the application and event registration form together.

Can I still come to "tomorrow's event"?
Yes, all HR/NY events have limited on-site registration available with payment by cash (exact amount only), check, or credit card. Pre-registration for all events closes at noon on the business day prior to the event. The onsite registration fee is higher then the pre-registration fee. We encourage you to register ahead of time to guarantee seating.

When do you stop accepting on-line registrations for events?
Pre-registration for all events closes at noon on the business day prior to the event.

Can I join HR/NY at an event?
Yes! Membership applications are always available at the meetings.

How can I update my information?
You can log on to our website with your SHRM ID and go to My HR/NY under the Member Resources menu item.
