School's expensive. We remember how it is to juggle educational and living expenses on a tight budget. We're here to help. HR/NY's Sherman Award honors the memory of Harry Sherman, the first President of our chapter and a major supporter of Human Resources education at the college and graduate school levels. The Sherman Award is a scholarship awarded to a student of Human Resources Management who has been the most active and supportive of the SHRM student chapter. Additionally, the SHRM Foundation awards a number of scholarships, which you can learn more about on our SHRM Foundation page.

Interested in applying for the HR/NY Sherman Award? Here's the process:

  • Every spring, SHRM chapter faculty advisors nominate deserving students. Nominated students must be active members of their school's SHRM chapter.
  • The HR/NY Sherman Award committee reviews the applications, and selects a winner.
  • HR/NY announces the winner at the June HR/NY chapter meeting, and features the recipient in Inside HR/NY.
  • The winner receives a $1,000 academic scholarship to help meeting school expenses a little easier!

Visit our Member Questions page to ask questions about the application process.
