| Description: | ||||||||||||
Many companies in industries, sectors and fields have begun to hire interns as part of their regular staffing plans, and this trend continues to evolve. The most successful internship programs are structured to benefit both employers and students. Employers are able to utilize a reliable and eager pool of workers to assist companies with specific projects to advance business goals. Intern programs can also be used for strategic staffing by creating a talent pool able to transition to fill company vacancies. Solid internship programs enable students to apply their academic knowledge to the workplace, learn business etiquette and gain hands-on skills valued by 21st Century employers. Such programs create a win-win for employers and students, as well as the universities that educate and connect students to employers. They also prepare the future workforce. This event will feature a panel of four speakers with expertise in areas of internship programs: an attorney to speak on the legal aspects, notably around compensation issues; an employer known for solid internship programs, a University Career Services administrator and a student who has participated in a successful internship program.
