Sherman
Award
Each year the HR/NY honors the memory of Harry Sherman, the first President of
our chapter. Harry Sherman was a major supporter of Human Resources education
at the college and graduate school levels. We honor his memory by presenting
The Sherman Award, a scholarship awarded to a student of Human Resources
Management who has been the most active and supportive of the SHRM student
chapter. SHRM Faculty Advisors nominate a student(s) who can fulfill these
criteria. The student(s) nominated must be academically in good standing (not
necessarily the most talented academically) and must have been the most active
and supportive of, and contributed the most to, the SHRM student chapter at the
college or university. Each year, at HR/NY's June monthly meeting, a short
ceremony is held to recognize the Sherman Award winner. At that time the
student is presented with a certificate and a check for $1,000.
